BSRT Symposium 2019

Much like an intergalactic traveler is dependent on a precise understanding of space and time, regenerative medicine aims at navigating safely through the intricate spatiotemporal microenvironments that determines successful healing.

Our vision for the BSRT symposium 2019

Much like an intergalactic traveler is dependent on a precise understanding of space and time, regenerative medicine aims at navigating safely through the intricate spatiotemporal microenvironments that determines successful healing.

However, because the regenerative environment is delicate and hard to mimic, the focus of current trends in many regenerative fields is to refine timing and spatial resolution of therapeutic approaches. Examples include nanomedicine, precise drug and cell delivery, on-demand gene expression and high resolution bioprinting, to name a few.

In this year’s symposium, we aim to explore the different manifestations of this trend and its significance in the future of regenerative research from a multi-facetted perspective.
Playfully following the theme of “The Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy” throughout the sessions, we would like to link different aspects of regenerative medicine such as biomaterials or immunology to futuristic scenarios and references from science fiction and pop culture. We provide an environment for young researchers to share their findings and to explore how better spatiotemporal control over healing biology could make these scenarios become reality.
